Yarn: Aran Weight, requiring approximately 206 yards (188 meters). The sample was crafted using Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn (100% acrylic; 355 yards [325 meters] / 7 ounces [198 grams]). This yarn choice enhances both the hat's warmth and elasticity, ensuring it holds its shape beautifully over time.
Needles: US 6 (4mm) and US 8 (5mm) – 16” (40 cm) circular needles, along with US 8 (5mm) double-pointed needles (dpns) for finishing touches.
Gauge: Achieve a gauge of 16 stitches per 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch, or 27 stitches per 4 inches (10 cm) in the intricate cable pattern (with 3 repeats) using the larger needles.
