GAUGE

Achieve the perfect fit with a gauge of 20 stitches and 30 rows on needle size US6 (4.0mm) in stockinette stitch, measured at 4” (10cm) both knit flat and in the round. Statistical consistency is critical for this pattern:

  • One repeat of charts B and D measures 2 inches (5cm) wide
  • One repeat of chart C measures 4.5 inches (11.5cm) wide

 

YARN REQUIREMENTS

For this cardigan project, you will need a total of 1500 (1625, 1725, 1825) (1950, 2050, 2150) (2250, 2350, 2450) yards of high-quality wool or a wool blend yarn to achieve the specified gauge for your chosen size. Our sample was crafted in size 36" using the luxurious Hazel Knits Lively DK, a 90% merino and 10% nylon blend that boasts 275 yards in 130 grams. This stunning design requires six skeins, specifically in color 267 Frost.

 

NEEDLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Size US6 (4.0mm) needles for small circumference knitting in the round (ideal for sleeves)
  • Size US6 (4.0mm) 32” circular needle (or 40” for larger sizes) for knitting the body flat
  • Size US5 (3.75mm) 24" circular needle for finishing bands
