Welcome to your next knitting project: a stylish knitted beanie with a trendy slouch, designed for comfort and warmth. This beanie pattern is crafted from the bottom up and seamlessly worked in the round, utilizing the Fair-Isle knitting technique to create a beautiful, intricate design. Whether you are an experienced knitter or a beginner ready to challenge yourself, this pattern is perfect for you.
Yarn: This beanie uses 2 Ply Jumper Weight yarn by Jamieson & Smith Fingering, made from 100% Shetland wool. Each kit includes the following yarn amounts: Main Color (MC) FC62 - 23g; 115yds (106m), Contrast Color 1 (CC1) 65 - 12g; 60yds (56m), Contrast Color 2 (CC2) 202 - 6g; 30yds (28m), and Contrast Color 3 (CC3) 28 - 6g; 30yds (28m). This combination of colors will provide a striking visual effect while you knit!
Needles: You will need 2.75mm (US No. 2) circular needles or double-pointed needles (DPNs) for the ribbing, and 3.25mm (US No. 3) circular needles for the main body of the beanie. A 16in/41cm circular needle and 6in/15cm DPNs will help you create the perfect fit. Keep in mind that some knitters may work stranded and single-colored stockinette at different gauges, so feel free to adjust your needle size to maintain a consistent gauge throughout the project.
Gauge: Achieve a gauge of 26 stitches x 32 rows = 4in/10cm, measured over stranded stockinette using the larger needles. This ensures that your finished beanie will fit nicely and look great.
Approximate Finished Size: This beanie is designed to fit most head sizes, ranging from 21 to 25 inches (53cm to 63.5cm). It’s a versatile accessory that can be worn by various ages and styles.
Additional Tools: Don’t forget to have a needle on hand for weaving in ends and a stitch marker to help keep track of your progress as you navigate through the pattern.
