An exciting twist to this pattern is the flexibility in color placement. One of our test knitters creatively decided to reverse her colors on the second sock—an idea that brings a unique charm to each pair! Feel free to follow suit or stick with a consistent color scheme; the choice is entirely yours.
This pattern is also an excellent way to use up leftover yarn from previous projects, particularly for the stripe accent yarn, making it both economical and eco-friendly!
The highlight of this pattern is the innovative Square-Start Swirl toe, which is not only fun to knit but also comfortable to wear. For the heel, we’ve opted for an afterthought design that features decreases in a captivating swirl. This heel offers more room than typical afterthought styles, ensuring a cozy fit without sacrificing aesthetics. While it might look unique when viewed off the foot, trust us, the proof is in the wearing!
(As a note for guidance, the purple sock showcased is a prototype. The toe and cuff are created just as specified in the pattern. In contrast, the pink sock features the swirl heel as outlined in the pattern itself.)
Important Errata: The version released between June 16 and June 18, 2010, mistakenly indicated that the heel should be knitted using Contrast Color (CC). Please note that Version B, which was corrected and released on June 19 at 1 PM EDT, has clarified that the heel is indeed to be knitted in Main Color (MC).
