Sunshower
Living in Auckland, New Zealand, sunshowers are a delightful and common weather phenomenon, especially as we transition into spring. This year, the frequency of these enchanting moments seems even more heightened. Inspired by the beauty of this unique climate, we present to you our beautifully designed symmetrical crescent-shaped shawl. This pattern features asymmetric heavy garter stitch cloud banks on either side, capturing the essence of those fluffy clouds, while the sun breaks through just above you, and down comes the rain, glistening in the sunlight.
This knitting pattern includes both charted and written instructions, making it accessible for knitters of various skill levels. The shawl is designed for 800 yards of 8-ply DK weight yarn, utilizing 4.5mm (US 7) needles. However, feel free to experiment with other yarn weights and needle sizes; just keep in mind that the gauge, finished size, and yarn requirements may vary accordingly.
Knitters, please note that this shawl begins with Judy’s Magic cast-on technique and includes an i-cord tab to create a clean and polished start. Throughout the pattern, the top edges are adorned with an elegant i-cord, maintaining a refined look throughout the entire shawl. Not only will you enjoy the process of creating this stunning accessory, but you’ll also end up with a wearable piece that captures the whimsical spirit of Auckland’s unpredictable weather.
Embrace the soothing rhythm of knitting as you bring this shawl to life, perfect for cozying up on those rainy days or for adding a stylish flair to your spring wardrobe. Grab your needles and yarn, and let the rain inspire your creativity!
