Experience the joy of creating a stunning shawl with our fun and approachable pattern, crafted from the narrow end to the wide end. This beautiful shawl is predominantly made in garter stitch, featuring a captivating gradient of colors that alternate seamlessly throughout the design. The border, which adds a touch of elegance and style, is worked concurrently with the garter stitch section and is accented by eye-catching double yarnovers and wrapped stitches, culminating in a wide, fringed edge that enhances its overall aesthetic.

SIZE: This gorgeous shawl measures 65” long, standing 25” tall at the wide end and tapering to 5 1/2” at the narrow end, making it a versatile accessory for any season.

MATERIALS: For this project, you will need Mountain Colors Yarn, Twizzlefoot Perspectives, which consists of 85% Merino wool and 15% silk (100g; 425yds). You will require 1 pack each of Reds/Pinks and Ash/Gray, with each pack containing 5 gradient shades of 85 yards each, totaling 850 yards needed to complete this exquisite shawl. Ensure you have 1 set of US #6/4 mm 32 inch circular needles, a tapestry needle, and 2 stitch markers at hand.

GAUGE: The recommended gauge is 18 stitches and 40 rows, which equals 4” in garter stitch after blocking—ensuring a perfect fit and drape for your finished shawl.

PATTERN NOTES: This shawl has been thoughtfully designed to be worked from the narrow end to the wide end, allowing for a seamless casting on and binding off that creates a beautifully fringed edge. The alternating colorways of yarn are cleverly carried up the side of the work, providing an effortless blend of hues. Additionally, the 3 stockinette stitches on the far right side of the shawl will curl slightly, effectively concealing the carried floats for a clean finish. This pattern comes with both written instructions and a chart for your convenience.

Whether you're a beginner looking to hone your skills or an experienced knitter seeking a new challenge, this gradient shawl knitting pattern is sure to inspire and delight!
