Several years ago, I self-published a popular pattern for DK weight, garter stitch mittens that were uniquely knit sideways. However, I encountered a significant issue with the cuffs: they lacked the snug fit needed to keep out the cold, leading to a frustrating "gappiness" at the wrist. At that time, my best solution was to add an I-cord around the wrist—though it looked great, it proved to be clunky to create and awkward to wear. Not ideal!

Upon revisiting the original design for The Queen’s Garters, I realized that I could effectively address the gaping issue by incorporating a bit of mosaic knitting. With a fresh perspective, I completely reworked the mittens. The revamped version is not only easier to knit but also more comfortable to wear, making it a delightful experience for knitters of all levels. Using bulky yarn allows these mittens to be knit up quickly, making them super warm and perfect for cold weather. Plus, the new design is visually stunning and adds an interesting twist to traditional mitten making. This second edition comes in an impressive 4 sizes, ensuring a perfect fit for the whole family—from children to adults. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome!
