This knitting pattern is designed for creating socks using double-pointed needles (DPNs). Suitable for all shoe sizes ranging from 20/21 to 50/51, this versatile pattern caters to a wide audience of knitters. The measurements are provided in metric units, with lengths specified in centimeters, and yarn amounts listed in grams for easy reference.
Sizes Available: This pattern accommodates every shoe size from 20/21 to 50/51, making it perfect for kids and adults alike.
Gauge: Achieve the perfect fit with a gauge of 34 stitches and 42 rounds equaling 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch. This is accomplished using US size 1 ½ (2.5 mm) needles and sock yarn in a lightweight 4-ply category.
Yarn Requirements: To create your unique socks, you will need 4-ply sock yarn in two contrasting colors. The total yarn amounts required will vary based on shoe size, leg length, and the number of stripes you choose. As a guideline, the main color (MC) will require approximately 30g for baby sizes up to 100g for larger feet, while the contrasting color (CC) will need around 10-30g. For reference, my completed socks used the following amounts: size 20 required 20g total, size 30 used 40g, and size 40 needed 60g.
Needles and Tools: To get started with this pattern, you will need double-pointed needles (DPNs) in US sizes 1 (2.25 mm) or 1 ½ (2.5 mm). You can also use long circular needles in the same sizes if preferred. Additional tools include a tapestry needle, scissors, and optionally, two stitch markers to help manage your stitches.
