The Big Smoke Socks
Introducing our enchanting sock pattern, a heartfelt tribute to Toronto, affectionately known as The Big Smoke. This unique design is a collaborative creation with the talented Deborah of Yarn Indulgences, celebrating the inaugural Knit City festival right in the vibrant heart of Toronto. With its whimsical circular motifs resembling puffs of smoke or fluffy clouds, this pattern is not only visually appealing but also incredibly easy to knit, making it a joy for both novice and experienced knitters alike. You'll love both the process of knitting and wearing these stylish socks!
One of my favorite aspects of this design is working with Deborah’s luxurious Sock Marl base! The striking horizontal stripes created by the black strand in the yarn offer a playful element that is thrilling to manipulate and experiment with. The innovative slip stitch design transforms the fabric, resulting in beautiful motifs that adorn the front of the sock, while the back features a purl stitch panel for added stretch and comfort.
This delightful sock pattern is available in three sizes, ensuring a perfect fit for everyone. Knit from the top down, it features a garter-edged heel flap and a traditional gusset, followed by my unique version of a rounded toe for a polished finish. Whether you’re crafting for yourself or gifting to a loved one, these socks are sure to impress!
All instructions are provided in both written and charted format, accommodating various knitting preferences. Embrace your creativity and indulge in the art of knitting with this special sock pattern that celebrates the vibrant spirit of Toronto. Your knitting adventure awaits!
