The Birthday Wrap
This exquisite knitting pattern begins with a provisional cast on, allowing you to work from the center out. It features a beautiful design composed mainly of garter stitch, adorned with leaves that elegantly grow in opposite directions from the center. To enhance the charm of this wrap, a knitted-on leafy edging is added at each end, resulting in a stunning and sophisticated oblong garter stitch and lace wrap with frilled, lacey ends.
The innovative knitted-on edge minimizes the need for traditional casting off, streamlining your finishing process. This pattern includes both charted and written instructions, making it accessible for knitters of all skill levels. Whether you are a beginner looking to learn new techniques or an experienced knitter seeking to create a stylish piece, this pattern has you covered.
The inspiration for this lovely knit came from the popular success of The Birthday Shawl, along with the unwavering encouragement and support of my wonderful mum. Recognizing her preference against triangular shawls, I decided to design this wrap specifically for her, incorporating the same beautiful lace edging that was a highlight of the original shawl.
Gauge (not particularly critical for the design):
22 stitches over 40 rows per 10 cm square (in unblocked garter stitch)
Approximate Dimensions of Finished Piece
Once blocked, this elegant wrap will measure approximately:
65 cm (25.5") in Width
170 cm (67") in Length
