The Giving Flower Fingerless Mitts
These beautiful fingerless mitts were first designed in 2007 for my handspun yarn, inspired by my blog, The Giving Flower. The design elegantly captures the essence of spring, with the palm side intricately symbolizing delicate rose stems. These mitts are the ultimate quick-knit project, perfect for stash busting, as they require only a small amount of sock yarn. Not only are they practical for keeping your hands warm while allowing for full finger mobility, but they also make a lovely gift for friends and family who appreciate handcrafted goodies!
Approximate Finished Dimensions:
With a cozy fit, the mitts measure approximately 7.5 inches around the palm and back of the hand, ensuring they fit comfortably on most adult hands.
Skill Level: This pattern is classified as intermediate, making it ideal for knitters who have experience with colorwork and working in the round.
Yarn: For this project, you'll need fingering weight yarn. I used approximately 25 grams of blue yarn (approximately 105 meters), 8 grams of pink (around 34 meters), and 6 grams of green (approximately 26 meters) for the dark blue background mitts. Feel free to get creative with your color choices to suit your personal style!
Needles: You’ll need a set of 5 double-pointed needles in size US 1.5 (2.5 mm) and US 2.5 (3 mm), or you can use your preferred method for knitting in the round, such as circular needles.
Notions: Be sure to have a locking stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round, as well as an additional stitch marker for the thumb gusset to help keep your knitting organized.
Gauge: The gauge for this project is 28 stitches per 4 inches in the colorwork pattern, working with 3 mm needles. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for ensuring that your mitts fit perfectly.
