The LYS Cowldana
The LYS Cowldana is a beautifully crafted knitting project that is worked from the bottom up, showcasing a perfect blend of techniques including I-cord edges, flat knitting, round knitting, a faux seam, and ribbing. Yarn: For this project, we recommend using Feederbrook Farms Entropy DK, made from 100% Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) wool. This luxurious yarn comes in two stunning colorways: the vibrant Red shade called “Specific Heat” and the rich Purple/Brown blend named “Joule.” With approximately 260 yards per 100 grams, you’ll have plenty of yarn to complete your Cowldana while still highlighting its unique fractal gradients.
Needles: You'll need US Size 6 (24” circular needles) and US Size 5 (24” circular needles) for this knitting pattern. These needle sizes will help you achieve the optimal gauge for a soft, drapable fabric.
Gauge: The gauge after blocking for flat knitting is 19.5 stitches x 29 rows over a 4” x 4” square. When knitting in the round, the gauge adjusts to 20.5 stitches x 23.5 rows over the same measurement. Ensuring you achieve the correct gauge is essential for the perfect fit and appearance of your Cowldana.
