Thekla mittens

$4.31

Introducing our beautifully crafted mittens, a stunning addition to the Thekla set, inspired by the vibrant colors of autumn. These mittens perfectly complement the matching hat available in our store, making it easy to create a cohesive and stylish look for the chilly seasons. Knitted seamlessly from the bottom to the top, these mittens offer both comfort and a sleek design.

For this project, you will need two colors that showcase a strong contrast to highlight the intricate patterns. I recommend using Finkhof Merino duenn yarn for its softness and warmth, but you can also achieve fantastic results with sock yarn held double for added durability. The mittens are designed to fit a variety of hand sizes, with a length of 11.5'' (29 cm) and a hand circumference of 8'' (20 cm), ensuring a snug and cozy fit.

Yarn specifications: This pattern calls for Finkhof Merino duenn yarn, which boasts a weight of 300m per 100g. The sample showcased in the images features a sophisticated dark grey and light grey color combination, but feel free to let your creativity shine by selecting your own unique color pairings.

Yardage requirements for this pattern are 30g for the main color (MC) and 40g for the contrasting color (CC), making it an accessible project for knitters of all skill levels. The gauge for this pattern is 24 stitches by 26 rows, which equals 4'' (10 cm) in colorwork, ensuring your mittens turn out just right.

To knit these mittens, you will need a set of double-pointed needles in US size 2 (2.75 mm), US size 4 (3.5 mm), and US size 6 (4 mm). Alternatively, long circular needles in the same sizes can be used for the magic loop technique. Additionally, don't forget to gather a tapestry needle, scissors, and waste yarn to guide the placement of the afterthought thumb effectively.

A special thank you to my talented testers, Ute, Tanja, and Gabi, for their invaluable feedback and support in bringing this pattern to life. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced knitter, these mittens from the Thekla set are a delightful way to showcase your skills and embrace the essence of autumn. Happy knitting!
