Thekla
Discover the elegance of the Thekla tam, a beautifully designed hat inspired by the rich, warm colors of autumn. This stranded colorwork hat is knit using two strands of sock yarn, Finnwool, or any other quality fingering weight yarn you prefer. It's a quick and enjoyable project, making it an ideal choice for last-minute gifts or cozy winter accessories. Don’t forget to check out the matching mittens available in my Ravelry store!
Measurements: Thekla is designed to fit a head circumference of 21-22 inches (53-55cm), with a diameter of 10 inches (25-26cm), ensuring a snug and comfortable fit for adults.
Gauge: Achieve the perfect tension with a gauge of 30 stitches and 40 rows using a US2/2.75mm needle in colorwork.
Yardage: For the Thekla tam, you'll need approximately 60 grams of yarn in total, divided between two contrasting colors: 30g for the main color (MC) and 30g for the contrasting color (CC).
Suggested Yarn: Choose from two distinctive colors of sock yarn or any fingering yarn that offers strong visual contrast. My autumn version features Mominoki sock fine yarn in the elegant Antique Ivory and deep Ink for a rich, leafy look. Alternatively, create a warm winter hat using Mominoki Finnwool, as shown in the bright Pure White and dramatic Shadow color combination.
