Tideswell Hat for All Ages

$4.50

Introducing the perfect hat for knitters of all ages and sizes! This delightful pattern guide details how to knit a cozy hat in the round, starting from a stylish brim and finishing with a beautifully crafted crown. The brim features a classic 1x1 rib design, providing just the right amount of stretch and comfort. The body of the hat is worked in a smooth stockinette stitch, making it perfect for showcasing your knitting skills. As you reach the crown, you'll work precise decreases evenly around the hat to create a snug fit.

This versatile pattern is designed with two-color techniques in mind, allowing you to play with color combinations for a fun look. If you prefer a more simplified approach, feel free to use just one color. To determine the correct yarn amounts for a single-color version, simply add together the meterage or yardage for both colors and compare it to the yardage provided in each ball of your chosen yarn.

Sizes: This inclusive pattern is suitable for a wide range of head sizes, making it ideal for Newborns, Babies, Toddlers (1-2 years), Small Children (2-6 years), Large Children (6-12 years), Small Adults, and Large Adults.

Yarn: For this project, we recommend Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 120, a soft and warm DK-weight yarn with excellent stitch definition. Each 50g ball contains 120m (131yds) of 100% wool. Yarn requirements per size are as follows: Colour A: 24m (26yds), 35m (38.5yds), 54m (54yds), 57m (63yds), 62m (68yds), 67m (73yds), and 71m (77.5yds). Colour B: 40m (44yds), 48.5m (53yds), 69m (75.5yds), 81m (88yds), 94m (102yds), 113m (124yds), and 138m (151yds).

Gauge: To achieve the best fit, maintain a gauge of 22 stitches and 30 rows for every 10cm (4in) in stockinette stitch, using 4mm (US 6) needles.

Needles: You will need both 3.5mm and 4mm double-pointed needles (DPNs) for this project. With just a bit of practice, you’ll be able to create a stunning hat that is perfect for gifting, charity, or cozying up during the colder months.

This knitting pattern not only allows you to create a stylish accessory but also serves as a great introduction to colorwork and circular knitting techniques. Dive into this engaging project that promises to keep your little ones (and yourself) warm and fashionable!
