PATTERN NOTES: This adorable and contemplative puppy is crafted by knitting in separate pieces. All components are worked flat, except for the legs, which are skillfully knitted in the round. Once you have completed each piece, they are stitched together and filled to create a delightfully plump puppy. The eyes and nose are brought to life with embroidery, adding character to your finished project.

SKILLS REQUIRED: This pattern is perfect for knitters with a solid foundation, as it requires skills such as casting on, binding off, increasing and decreasing stitches, attaching new yarn, filling and shaping your work, as well as sewing and seaming. Knitting in the round is essential for the legs, along with the thumb cast on technique for certain parts of the design. This project is great for improving your knitting abilities while creating a cute and cuddly toy.

YARN: For this project, you'll need Red Heart worsted yarn (100% acrylic, 482 yards (440 meters) in 10 ounces (238 grams)). The main color (MC) for the body and legs is in beautiful Aran Fleck, requiring approximately 100 yards (91 meters). The coordinating color for the muzzle (CC1) is Buff Fleck, needing just 10 yards (9 meters). You'll also need a small amount of brown yarn (CC2) for the paw pads, as well as faux fur for the ears (100% polyester, 65 yards (6 meters) in 3.5 ounces (100 grams)). You’ll need about 20 yards (18 meters) of brown yarn for a lovely finish.

KNITTING NEEDLES: For this project, use a US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needle for working flat and a set of US 5 (3.75 mm) double-pointed needles (DPNs) for the legs. Additionally, a larger US 13 (9 mm) circular needle for flat knitting will be needed to ensure your stitches are just the right size.

EXTRAS: To complete your puppy, gather some essential tools including a yarn needle for sewing, stitch markers for keeping track of your stitches, polyester fiber fill for stuffing, and some embroidery floss to finish off the eyes and nose.

FINISHED SIZE: The finished puppy will measure approximately 8 inches by 8 inches (20 cm by 20 cm), making it a charming addition to any home or a delightful gift for children. Please note that schematic measurements are approximate and may slightly vary depending on your tension and knitting style.

This knitting pattern is an excellent way to utilize your skills while creating a unique and lovable puppy that can be cherished for years to come. Start your knitting adventure today and watch your pensive pup come to life!
