Tumbling Blocks Cowl (TBC)

This is an exciting experiment with color that also serves as a fantastic way to utilize those little bits of fingering weight yarn that you just can’t bear to toss aside. You know the ones I’m talking about—those precious strands that may not be enough for a full-sized project but possess a beautiful color or hold sentimental value. In my sample, I’ve woven together joyful mementos from past knitting projects I’ve cherished throughout the years.

To get started, gather your collection of fingering weight yarns. Lay them out in a row and take a photo with your iPhone, camera, or any device you prefer. Alternatively, you can switch to black and white mode for a unique perspective. Next, create three “value” piles—light, medium, and dark. Remember, there is no strict guideline regarding the actual hue (color), but I did follow one essential motto throughout this process: When I felt hesitant about selecting the next set of colors, I embraced that fear and boldly dived into the most daring choices. This approach not only enhanced my creative process but also transformed my leftover yarn into a vibrant tapestry of colors.

This project not only makes for an excellent way to clear out your yarn stash but also provides a rewarding and practical experience. Each combination reflects your personal style and memories. So, don’t wait any longer—let those colorful remnants inspire you and enjoy the knitting journey ahead!
