Turritella Socks

$5.00

This beautifully crafted sock design draws inspiration from the intricately coiled, cone-shaped shells of the Turritella genus of sea snails. With its elegant spiral lace pattern, these socks showcase a stunning visual complexity that belies the ease of creation, featuring a tight bias that gracefully twists down the leg.

Our pattern includes detailed charts and clear written directions, making it accessible for knitters of all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, you'll find everything you need to create your own exquisite pair of Turritella-inspired socks.

This pattern was originally featured in the May 2015 Blue Moon Fiber Arts Rockin’ Sock Club, highlighting its popularity and artistic design. The gauge is critical for achieving the perfect fit: you should aim for 32 stitches and 46 rows to equal 4” (10cm) in Stockinette stitch, and 34 stitches and 46 rows to equal 4” (10cm) in the Spiral Lace pattern.

NOTE: To ensure both socks mirror each other correctly, pay close attention to your ssk (slip, slip, knit) and k2tog (knit two together) decreases. If these are not mirrored accurately, you may find your right and left socks looking significantly different. To mitigate any distortion, be sure to work the ssk decrease at the tips of your needles.

Achieving the correct gauge is essential for a well-fitting sock. Expect a slightly loose fit in the cuff with minimal negative ease. If you prefer your socks to hug your feet snugly, consider using a smaller needle size or opt for the next size down in the pattern.

These Turritella socks not only make for a cozy and stylish addition to your wardrobe but also provide an engaging challenge, perfect for knitting enthusiasts looking to refine their skills. Dive into this delightful pattern today and elevate your knitting project to new heights!
