Turtles are among the most iconic animals of the Galapagos Islands, renowned for their unique shell shapes that captivated Charles Darwin and significantly contributed to his formulation of the theory of evolution. Inspired by these remarkable creatures, Babs was determined to create a turtle-themed knitting experience for this trip. However, when we discovered the challenges of effectively depicting turtles on a sock, we made the exciting decision to introduce a second, turtle-inspired pattern as a delightful bonus.

The concept of designing a turtle cable pattern truly fascinated me, and I spent time experimenting with various ideas. To enhance the overall design and occupy the surrounding space, I also crafted a gorgeous Turtle Footprint Lace. This intricate lace design features turtle footprints elegantly walking toward the turtle from both sides of the shawl, creating a harmonious and enchanting visual effect.
