Twillish Beanie
This beautiful stranded beanie pattern draws its inspiration from the gorgeous twill scarves I enjoy weaving on my table loom. It was thoughtfully designed to complement my Twillish Fingerless Gloves and is perfect for knitters who appreciate the art of colorwork. The pattern features two distinct versions: one with a Light Main Color (MC) paired with a Dark Contrast Color (CC), and the other showcasing a Dark MC with a Light CC. This flexibility allows you to customize the look of your beanie to suit your personal style.
SIZES: This pattern includes a wide range of sizes, making it suitable for the entire family: Baby, Toddler, Child, and Adult (Small, Medium, Large).
GAUGE: Achieve a precise gauge of 28 stitches and 28 rows per 4 inches (10 cm) in stranded stockinette stitch to ensure a perfect fit for your beanie.
MATERIALS: You will need sport weight yarn in two highly contrasting colors (17-51g/60 yards-130 yards for MC & 6-28g/22-72 yards for CC). The sample shown above is crafted using a lovely 12 wraps per inch (wpi) handspun 2-ply sport weight yarn, specifically designed for the Adult Small size. The yield for the yarns used is as follows: Main Color (MC): natural grey CVM with a total of 428 yards in 6 ounces (169 grams), used 122 yards (1.7 ounces, 47 grams); Contrast Color (CC): natural brown Navajo Churro with a total of 114 yards in 2 ounces (56 grams), used 42 yards (0.7 ounces, 21 grams). For optimal results, a short forward draw spinning technique was employed to create a woolen yarn that provides warmth and comfort.
You'll also need: 16-inch US size 4 (3.5 mm) circular knitting needles, a set of 4-5 US size 4 (3.5 mm) double-pointed needles, stitch markers, and a darning needle to complete your beanie. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned knitter, this pattern will guide you through creating a stylish and cozy accessory that you'll cherish for years to come.
