MATERIALS

YARN - Worsted weight yarn is required for this project:

  • MC (Main Color): 98 yards {90 m}
  • CC (Contrast Color): 25 yards {23 m}

Sample yarn used: I Love This Yarn (100% Acrylic - 355 yards {325 m}/199g) in the delightful colorways ‘Rosy Cheeks’ (Main Color) and ‘Ivory’ (Contrast Color).

NEEDLES

Select US 8 {5.00 mm} circular needles with a 16” {41 cm} circumference for this pattern.

*Feel free to use any size needles necessary to achieve the desired gauge.*

You will also need a longer cord length or double-pointed needles (DPNs) to manage the crown decreases effectively.

For the brim, use ribbing needles that are 1-2 sizes smaller than your gauge on a 16” {41 cm} circular needle.

GAUGE

Gauge for Stockinette Colorwork - This pattern is worked in the round.

Target Gauge: 17.5 stitches / 23 Rounds = 4" {10 cm}.

*When creating my swatch, I noticed that the gauge for plain stockinette stitch was slightly looser than that of the colorwork section. This adjusted itself beautifully when I worked the colorwork for my swatch.*

SIZING

This knitted item is designed in One Size: It measures approximately 20.5” {52 cm} in circumference and has an overall length of 8” {20.5 cm}, making it a perfect fit for most adults.
