Vesta Earflap Hat
Introducing the Vesta Earflap Hat, a delightful and cozy knitted accessory designed to keep little heads warm during chilly days. Comfortable and stylish, this hat is knitted in the round and elegantly finished with I-cords on the selvedges, making it a must-have for your child’s winter wardrobe.
Yarn: For the best results, I highly recommend using The Yarn Collective Pembroke Worsted. However, you are welcome to use any yarn that meets the specified gauge. Depending on the size you choose, testers will need between 50-80g (or 1.75-2.8 oz) of yarn.
Needles: You will need 4.5mm (US 7) circular needles or double-pointed needles (DPNs) for the body of the hat, along with 4mm (US 6) needles for the I-cord detailing.
Gauge: This pattern requires a gauge of 20 stitches and 24 rows, measured over a 10 x 10 cm swatch in stockinette stitch using 4.5mm (US 7) needles. It’s crucial to achieve this gauge for the best-fitting hat!
Sizes: The Vesta Earflap Hat pattern is available in three sizes, all included in the same download, ensuring the perfect fit for every little one. Sizes are as follows:
- Baby (6-12 months): fits head circumference of 40-45 cm (16-18 inches)
- Toddler (12-24 months): fits head circumference of 45-47.5 cm (18-19 inches)
- Child (2-5 years): fits head circumference of 47.5-50 cm (19-20 inches)
Each size has been rigorously tested by knitters of various skill levels to ensure ease of understanding and accuracy.
