Victory Arch Shawl
The Victory Arch Shawl is a heartfelt tribute to friends and family members impacted by cancer. During my time as a hospice volunteer, I found solace in the comforting rhythm of garter stitch as I spent time with patients and their loved ones, providing companionship and support. The elegant arches in the lace at the shawl's edge symbolize the hope for a triumphant victory over cancer, a dream I hope to witness in my lifetime.
This beautiful shawl was specifically designed for a fundraiser to assist a dear friend who is bravely battling cancer, affectionately referring to it as “The Alien Inside Me.” All proceeds from this project will be split between a fund to help cover his medical treatment and necessary travel expenses, as well as donations to our local hospice organization (http://nwcovna.org/hospiceandpalliative_care.php), which provides essential care and support to those in need.
For those interested in creating this stunning two-color shawl, you will need approximately 400 yards of the main color and 200 yards of a contrasting color. To add an extra touch of beauty, approximately 125 size 6 seed beads are required to complete the exquisite beaded bind-off. This not only enhances the visual appeal of the shawl but also symbolizes the strength and resilience of those fighting cancer.
Join us in crafting a shawl that’s not just a project, but a symbol of hope and support.
