ABOUT THE PATTERN

If you're a fan of Doctor Who, you'll adore this long red lace scarf inspired by Amy Pond's iconic accessory from season 5, specifically showcased in “The Vampires of Venice” and “Vincent and the Doctor.” This beautifully designed scarf combines elegance with functionality and offers a touch of whimsical style to any outfit. Drawing inspiration from a delightful lace pattern found in Barbara Walker’s celebrated Treasury of Knitting Patterns, I added unique borders and interesting repeats to create a piece that is both fun to knit and delightful to wear. Whether wrapped around your neck or draped over your shoulders, this scarf serves as a versatile addition to your wardrobe. Originally published in 2011, this pattern has been meticulously edited and updated for 2019. Best of all, it remains free for all avid knitters to enjoy. Happy knitting!

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

This scarf measures approximately 60” [152 cm] in length and 7” [18 cm] in width, making it the perfect size for any occasion. (Length is easily adjustable, allowing for personalization to suit your preferences.)

MATERIALS

Yarn: You will need approximately 460 yards [420 m] of Fingering weight yarn to complete this project.

For the sample scarf, I used Knit Picks Stroll, which required about 100 g or 450 yards of yarn. Choose a color that resonates with you!

Needles: To achieve the correct gauge, use size US 3 [3.25 mm] needles; however, feel free to use the size that works best for you based on your knitting style.

Other notions: Don't forget to gather a stitch marker and a tapestry needle to help with your knitting journey.

GAUGE

The gauge for this project is 24 stitches and 28 rows = 4" [10 cm] in the Lace Repeat after blocking. Achieving this gauge is important for the scarf to turn out as beautifully as intended.

This long and lacy red scarf is not only a tribute to a beloved TV character but also an enjoyable knitting experience that can enhance your skill set. Ready to start your next knitting adventure? Download the pattern now!
