Waiting for Lilacs
Welcome to the second installment in our delightful series of two spring accessories designed to brighten your knitting repertoire. If you loved In Due Time, you’re sure to be enchanted by this beautiful heart or bandana-shaped shawlette! Even though we are releasing it in the late fall, we're simply too eager to embrace the lightness and beauty of spring.
This stunning shawlette features an intricate lace stitch pattern near the top, gracefully transitioning into a unique design that showcases buds, blossoms, and branches at the bottom. The rest of the shawlette is beautifully crafted in smooth stockinette stitch, creating a harmonious balance between elegance and simplicity.
For this project, I opted for 2 balls of DROPS Kid-Silk, each weighing 25 grams (75% mohair and 25% silk) with an impressive yardage of 200 meters (218 yards) per ball. I chose color 09 - a dreamy light lilac shade that perfectly captures the essence of spring.
This yarn is incredibly light and soft, making the knitting experience a joy. I particularly enjoyed working with the DROPS Kid-Silk on US 4 (3.5mm) needles, which allows the delicate stitches to shine through beautifully.
Whether you are looking to create the perfect accessory for your spring wardrobe or seeking a thoughtful handmade gift, this shawlette pattern is an ideal choice. Written instructions and easy-to-follow stitch pattern charts are included to guide you through each step of the process.
