Winter is Coming Mittens
Discover the enchanting pattern for the Winter is Coming Mittens, perfect for keeping your hands cozy during the chilly months. These delightful mittens feature an intricate colorwork design on the palm side, while the backs showcase the iconic phrase "Winter is Coming" along with a charming snowflake motif. Whether you're preparing for winter adventures or looking for a thoughtful handmade gift, these mittens are a must-knit!
For this project, you will need 1 skein (155 yards) of fingering weight yarn in Red (Main Color, MC). I personally used Lang Yarns Merino 200 Bébé in a vibrant red. Additionally, you'll need 1 skein (120 yards) of fingering weight yarn in White (Contrast Color, CC), which I selected as Lange Yarns Merino 200 Bébé in a classic white. With these beautiful yarns, your mittens will not only be warm but also visually stunning.
The mittens are designed to be knit in the round, giving you the option to use either the magic loop method or double-pointed needles, depending on your preference. The pattern is written out in standard US terms, making it accessible for knitters of various skill levels. For this project, you will need to use size 1 needles to achieve the perfect fit.
To ensure your mittens turn out just right, the recommended gauge is 34 stitches x 32 rows = 4” in knit colorwork. Achieving this gauge is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the design and ensuring your mittens are both functional and beautiful.
