Discover the perfect accessory to transition between seasons with our stunning Mitts pattern. These mitts feature an intriguing texture on the back of the hand, which I fondly refer to as “slip stitch cable.” Although this design might resemble a traditional cable knit, it employs a unique technique to create its distinctive look without the complexity of typical cable work.

The inspiration for these mitts came from the luscious yarn I chose: Quince & Co. Chickadee. This delightful sport weight yarn boasts a lofty quality with an abundance of air spun into it, allowing you to knit at a loose gauge. The result? A beautifully crafted fabric capable of withstanding chilly temperatures while remaining soft and cozy.

Gauge: 10.5 stitches x 18 rounds = 5cm in Stockinette stitch after blocking. Achieving the correct gauge ensures your mitts will fit perfectly and offer optimal warmth and comfort.

Needles: You will need one set of US 6 / 4mm double-pointed needles (DPNs) or a size that achieves the desired gauge. If you prefer a different knitting technique, feel free to use the magic loop method for added flexibility.

Difficulty: Our test knitters rated this knitting pattern as advanced beginner. This project incorporates the use of DPNs or the magic loop method, elements of cable knitting, various stitch textures, and the technique for placing live stitches on a holder or waste yarn. It’s a fantastic way to enhance your knitting skills while creating something truly beautiful.

Whether you’re looking to keep your hands warm, add a stylish accessory to your wardrobe, or gift something special to a loved one, these mitts are the ideal project. Dive into the world of knitting with this engaging pattern and enjoy the process of creating something unique and functional!
