Alternating Current Flip-top mitts

$3.46

If you love the versatility of convertible mitts but find the traditional buttons and flaps too cumbersome, these innovative convertible mittens are perfect for you! This unique design features a flip-top that is seamlessly stitched to the mitt at the sides. You can easily fold it forward or back, allowing you to transition between mitts and mittens in just one simple step. Plus, our thoughtful short row shaping adds the extra length needed to comfortably accommodate longer middle fingers, ensuring a perfect fit for everyone.

These versatile mitts come in one size that fits most adult hands. The ribbing is designed to be stretchy, allowing them to comfortably fit hand circumferences ranging from approximately 7” to 9” (18cm to 23cm). If you want to tailor the fit, the length is adjustable to suit individual preferences, with suggested lengths provided for reference. Additionally, you can modify sizing easily by using either smaller or larger knitting needles.

To create these stylish convertible mitts, you will need about 150 yards of fingering weight yarn in your chosen Main Colour and around 50 yards in a complementary Contrast Colour. Alternatively, you can opt for a single colour version using approximately 200 yards of fingering weight yarn. Be sure to have knitting needles for working in the round, specifically size 2.5mm (US 1.5) and 3.25mm (US 3), or choose the size that achieves your desired pattern tension. A darning needle will also be necessary for finishing touches.

These convertible mitts not only provide functionality but also make for an enjoyable knitting project suitable for various skill levels. Whether you're an experienced knitter or just starting out, this pattern will guide you through the process. Enjoy the freedom of style and warmth with these delightful mitts, perfect for any chilly day!
