Caribou
This delightful shawlette, known as the "Caribou Shawlette," was specifically designed for the Minnesota Yarn Shop Hop 2013, under the engaging theme "iYarn@." Here at 3 Kittens, we often enjoy knitting in our favorite local coffee shop, which inspired our playful twist on the theme: "iYarn@the coffee shop." This cozy design pays tribute to Caribou Coffee, a beloved spot where the friendly staff knows us all by name!
The Caribou Shawlette features a charming pattern that alternates between sections of stockinette stitch and reverse stockinette stitch, beautifully enhanced with an eyelet row for added texture. To successfully complete this lovely shawl, you’ll need to be familiar with the following essential knitting techniques: knit, purl, kfb (knit front and back), pfb (purl front and back), k2tog (knit two together), and yo (yarn over).
**Yarn Requirements:** For knitting this shawlette, you will need 1-2 skeins of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport (each skein contains 200 yards and weighs 100 grams). The small size requires just one skein, while the medium size necessitates two skeins.
**Sizes:** The pattern is available in two sizes: Small (S) and Medium (M). The stunning green shawl photographed is the smaller version.
**Finished Measurements:** Once completed, the shawl will measure approximately 7" wide x 38" long for the small size and 12" wide x 62" long for the medium size.
**Gauge:** To achieve the correct fit, maintain a gauge of 20 stitches over 4 inches in stockinette stitch after blocking.
**Important Note:** Please be aware that there is an error in Row 8 of the printed pattern version distributed at the Yarn Shop Hop. Make sure to check for the corrected instructions before you begin knitting your Caribou Shawlette!
This shawlette not only represents the camaraderie of the knitting community but also makes a wonderful, stylish accessory to keep you warm as you sip on your favorite brew at your local coffee shop. Enjoy this perfect blend of functionality and charm with your very own Caribou Shawlette!
