Clarion – An Underwater Fracture Zone-Inspired Knitting Pattern
Discover the beauty of the ocean with the Clarion knitting pattern, inspired by a stunning underwater fracture zone. This intricate design features long, narrow, and mountainous shapes that mimic the dramatic ridges and troughs found on the Pacific Ocean floor, creating a visual delight for knitters and ocean lovers alike.
The gorgeous scallops and undulating ridges of this lace cowl evoke the mesmerizing patterns of the Clarion fracture zone. With a combination of reverse stockinette ridges, special wrap stitches, and a natural wave at the bottom edge of each lace section, this design artfully reflects the ocean's troughs and ridges. Crafted in two colors of fingering weight yarn, the finished cowl is not only warm but also adds a touch of elegance to any winter ensemble.
Yarn Requirements: This project uses fingering weight yarn. For Color A, you will need 82 yards (75 meters), while Color B requires 173 yards (158 meters) to complete the stunning design.
Sample Yarn Used: The sample cowl was created using KnitPicks Palette, a luxurious 100% Peruvian Highland Wool. Each ball contains 1.75oz (50g) and offers an impressive 231 yards (211 meters) of yarn. The chosen colors were Color A: #24010 Marine Heather and Color B: #25095 Caribbean, together creating a beautiful ocean-inspired palette.
