Cornflowers in the Rye
Lithuanian Cornflowers
This knitting pattern was originally designed to be bi-colored, showcasing a beautiful floral motif inspired by cornflowers. In my quest for creativity, I decided to experiment with a three-colored version during a test knit. The result was delightful, though I found that the mittens turned out to be slightly too large for MY extra-small hands. To achieve a better fit, I modified the pattern to cater to smaller hands—the final version features thumbs that are a few rows shorter and placed higher on the mitten.
Unable to choose a definitive version, I decided to include both in the PDF to give you a variety of options. Inside, you'll find two distinct charts for the mitten body: one for the three-colored larger size and another for the bi-colored smaller size. Additionally, you will receive two different pattern versions for the thumbs, which include the same size options (with or without the flower detail) as well as a larger-sized three-color chart.
This versatile pattern not only accommodates different hand sizes but also allows for creative exploration in colorwork. Grab your yarn and needles to create your own unique pair of mittens that embody the charm of cornflowers!
