Counterbalance

After graduating from college, I had the incredible opportunity to live and teach in Asia for several years. During my time in South Korea, I was captivated by a beautiful custom of stacking rocks for good fortune. You can find these enchanting rock towers outside of Buddhist temples, on the peaks of mountains, and even near schools—practically anywhere stones are present. These picturesque stacks are not just simple decorations; they represent balance and harmony, guided by the careful touch of human hands. Inspired by the simple beauty of these lovely rock towers, I designed this unique knitting pattern for mitts that embodies that same spirit of balance. These exquisite mitts are knit in the round from the bottom up, making it easy for knitters of all skill levels to follow. A single, elegant, stacked cable runs elegantly along the inner wrist, up the palm, and culminates at the base of the thumb. A distinctive feature of this pattern is that the mitts are not identical; they are designed to be mirror images of one another, which creates a harmonious and visually striking pair. This beautiful and functional accessory is perfect for keeping your hands warm while showcasing your knitting skills. Whether you’re an experienced knitter or just starting out, these mitts will add a touch of artistry to your wardrobe. Explore this captivating pattern today, and celebrate the art of knitting while embracing the tradition of balance!
