Fall in Love Shawl

$6.47

Add a touch of elegance to your autumn wardrobe with this stunning shawl, designed to showcase your beautiful kettle-dyed yarns and those with long color changes. The exquisite lacy edging beautifully complements the aesthetic of falling leaves, making it a perfect accessory for the season. This versatile shawl pattern can be knitted in any size and with any yarn quality of your choice, giving you the freedom to create a unique piece that suits your personal style.

The sizes of the finished shawl will vary depending on the yarn quality you choose. For optimal width, I recommend knitting more pattern repeats when using fingering weight yarns. My personal shawl samples, crafted from DK yarn on 4mm needles, have impressive wingspans of 200 cm (79 in) in orange and 240 cm (95 in) in blue, demonstrating the beautiful drape and flexibility of this pattern.

Techniques you will master while knitting this shawl include:

  • Knits and purls,
  • Yarn overs, and
  • Simple decreases.

Complete your autumn look with the matching mittens!

What you need to get started:

  • 2 skeins of DK yarn (280 yards or 256 meters per 100g) OR
  • 1 skein of fingering weight yarn (412 yards or 377 meters per 100g).
  • A cable needle (at least 80cm or 30in) in an appropriate size (I used 3mm for fingering and 4mm for DK),
  • A tapestry needle to weave in your ends.

The samples were beautifully crafted using Hearthside Fibers Yarn Extravagance DK, which enhances the pattern with its luxurious texture and vibrant colors. If you're looking for alternatives, suggested substitute yarns are included at the bottom of the pattern.

Whether you're an experienced knitter or just starting your journey, this shawl pattern will inspire you to create a one-of-a-kind accessory that celebrates the beauty of autumn while showcasing your knitting skills!
