Gorham
Gorham holds a special place in my heart, filled with cherished memories that span both joyous and challenging times. This picturesque town is where I attended summer camp nearly every year of my adolescent life, nestled high atop a breathtaking mountain, surrounded by majestic cliffs, lush trees, and the stunning natural beauty that comes with being situated at an altitude of 2,400 feet. My summers in Gorham were filled with thrilling adventures, whether hiking (or occasionally grumbling about the uphill trek), rock climbing, exploring enchanting caves through spelunking, indulging in creative crafts, or engaging in energetic games like “Capture the Wet Pink Flamingo”—a rainy twist on Capture the Flag featuring whimsical lawn ornaments in place of traditional flags. These experiences not only shaped my youth but also instilled in me a profound appreciation for nature, friendship, and the simple joys of summer. Gorham, with its enchanting landscapes and vibrant activities, will forever remain a cherished chapter in my life’s narrative.
