Hearty Warmth Hat
Welcome to my knitting corner! I've created the delightful eyelet heart design featured in my very first pattern, the Bottom of My Heart Shawl. In addition to this shawl, I've made the pattern available as a free chart for a single heart washcloth! Inspired by this heart motif, I decided to expand my collection by crafting a cozy cowl and a stylish hat using the same chart. I'm thrilled to share these patterns with you—happy knitting!
Yarn: For this project, I selected Manos Del Uruguay's Serpentina yarn in the beautiful colorway Malala. However, feel free to experiment with any Aran or Bulky weight yarn of your choice to suit your personal style and preferences.
Gauge: To achieve the perfect fit, aim for a gauge of 16 stitches per 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch when using larger needles. This will ensure your finished items are both comfortable and stylish!
Needles & Notions: You'll need a 16-inch (41 cm) circular needle in sizes US 6 and 7 (4 mm & 4.5 mm) or any size that helps you reach the specified gauge. A set of double-pointed needles (DPNs) in the larger size will also be handy for shaping the crown of your hat. Don’t forget a darning needle for weaving in those pesky ends and giving your project a polished finish!
Approximate Finished Measurements: Once completed, your cowl will have a circumference of 20 inches (50 cm) and a height of 9 inches (22 cm). These dimensions make for a snug yet comfortable fit, perfect for chilly days!
This knitting pattern is perfect for both beginners and experienced knitters looking for a fun and engaging project to bring warmth to their winter wardrobe. Embrace your creativity and enjoy making this charming cowl and hat set today!
