Hollyhock
Introducing my new favorite knitting project: the Hollyhock Cowl! This delightful accessory features a generous cowl neck that measures approximately 27 3/4" in circumference and 6 1/2" in height when folded over. While I absolutely love the dramatic look of this big cowl, I understand that it might be a bit much for some knitters. That’s why I’m including additional instructions for a narrower and shorter collar option! This second cowl neck version measures around 18 1/2" in circumference and 4 1/2" tall after folding over, giving you the flexibility to choose the style that suits you best. After all, it's always better to have options, right?
The Hollyhock pattern is crafted to be worked from the top down in the round, creating a seamless piece from the cowl down to the hem. For this project, I recommend using Imperial Stock Ranch's Erin yarn, a beautiful worsted weight that truly embodies the rustic charm that I love. This yarn is not overly processed or worked, which contributes to its strong and sturdy feel. It provides warmth like traditional wool but is incredibly soft against the skin, making it an exceptional choice for cozy accessories.
Be sure to check your gauge for this project! The recommended gauge is 19 stitches and 24 rows per 4" in Stockinette Stitch. Whether you're an experienced knitter or just getting started, the Hollyhock Cowl pattern offers a satisfying and enjoyable knitting experience. So grab your needles and dive into this lovely project that will keep you warm and stylish all season long!
