Exciting News: JINX IS NOW AVAILABLE IN GERMAN! ~Pattern translation made possible by the talented Thomas, also known as NieBluna.
Materials & Tools Needed
- Main Color (MC) & Contrast Color (CC) yarn of any weight - You will need approximately 100 yards of MC and 35 yards of CC for Worsted weight yarn. For preferred yardage for DK and Heavy Worsted, please visit my projects page.
- Needles: Use US size 5 needles. Note that the needle size may vary based on the specific yarn you select. I recommend going down 1 to 2 sizes from the smallest needle size suggested on the yarn label to achieve the correct gauge.
- This project can be knitted using Double Pointed Needles (DPNs), two circular needles, or a 40” circular needle for the Magic Loop method (my preferred technique). Ensure that you distribute your stitches evenly for seamless working in the round.
- An additional needle is required for the 3-needle decrease technique.
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends and finishing touches.
- Optional: Stitch marker to denote the beginning of the round.
- Safety eyes and a nose—my sample pieces were purchased from seller 6060 on Etsy.
- Embroidery floss or yarn scraps for creating the mouth.
- Polyfill stuffing to give your toy its nice shape.
- Optional: Buttons for added embellishments to enhance the design.
Gauge: It is essential to achieve a tight fabric when knitting toys to prevent the polyfill stuffing from poking through. For this reason, I always recommend going down 1 to 2 needle sizes to ensure a sturdy and durable finish.
This delightful pattern not only allows you to create an adorable soft toy but also offers a wonderful way to practice your knitting skills. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced knitter, JINX provides an engaging project that you can proudly display or gift to a loved one. Happy knitting!
