MATERIALS:
Yarn: 420 yards (385 meters) of fingering weight yarn. Additionally, you may need 25 yards (23 meters) of DK weight yarn for finishing touches. For inspiration, our sample shawls were beautifully crafted using Araucania Yarns Huasco Sock in the stunning color 1001 Capuchinbird and Malabrigo Mechita in the vibrant color 227 Volcan. Both samples incorporated about 20 yards (18 meters) of a complementary DK weight yarn for the bottom edging and bind-off. Each project utilized nearly an entire ball or approximately 420 yards (100 g) of yarn.
Needles: Size US 2 (3.00 mm) circular needles (or the size needed to achieve the correct gauge). Optionally, you may use Size US 4 (3.50 mm) circular needles for the DK weight finishing.
Notions: A tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
GAUGE: 26 stitches and 34 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette stitch after blocking, ensuring that your shawl has a lovely drape and fit.
