Introducing the perfect knitting pattern for fingerless mitts, designed especially to celebrate my son’s 21st birthday! Known for his love of fingerless mitts and his tendency to misplace them, I created this special design as a thoughtful solution. My son chose his favorite sock yarn from my extensive stash, and I made a promise to keep knitting these stylish mitts until the yarn ran out. With my 100-gram skein of sock yarn, it looks like I’ll be able to craft a total of 5 mitts—ensuring he has plenty of spares to last him for a few years!

These fingerless mitts feature a simple yet elegant 1x3 ribbing paired with a beautifully patterned gusset for style and comfort. To achieve the thumb and finger openings, I utilized my Phalangee technique, which I proudly published in Knitty’s Deep Fall 2012 issue. To further enhance your knitting experience, I also took the opportunity to record an easy-to-follow demonstration video showcasing this unique technique while making these mitts.
