Materials Needed for Knitting Mitts
- US Size 0 (2mm) set of double-pointed needles (dpns) or circular needles (for the Magic Loop method).
- Optional: US Size 00 (1.75mm) needles for ribbing.
- Light fingering weight yarn - 231 yards/50 grams (211 meters/50 grams):
- Background color: 162 yards/35 grams.
- Contrast color: 69 yards/15 grams.
Note on Materials and Sizes: The size of the knitted mitts can easily be adjusted based on your choice of yarn and needles. For optimal fit, my recommendations are as follows:
- For Small/Medium (S/M): Use light fingering weight yarn with US Size 0 (2mm) needles.
- For Medium (M): Use fingering weight yarn with US Size 2.25/2.5 mm needles.
- For Large (L): Use sport weight yarn with US Size 2.5/3 mm needles.
Gauge: Achieve a gauge of 9 stitches x 13 rows (when knitting in the round) in a 1” x 1” square after blocking. This gauge is specifically for light fingering weight yarn using US Size 0 (2mm) needles.
