Pepsi's Pi Shawl
In November 2016, just seven months after the heart-wrenching loss of our beloved cat Lena, my husband and I decided to adopt a new furry friend from Spain named Pepsi. At 5.5 months old, Pepsi quickly became the perfect addition to our family. This adorable and cheeky black cat has a unique personality; she loves to perch on our shoulders as we stroll around the house—a delightful quirk that makes us wonder if there might be a parrot in her lineage! Although we cherish Lena's memory every single day, life has taken a happier turn with Pepsi by our side. In an exciting twist, just five months later, we welcomed Pepsi's sister, Orangina, into our home. Together, they bring endless joy, companionship, and love. For this special shawl pattern, I took inspiration from the special bond we share with our cats. I've designed the stitch patterns for the body on my own, using insights from Naomi Parkhurst's fantastic tutorials on how to embed secret codes in your knitting projects. In this playful design, I've encoded the words “Pepsi” along with the German translations for cheeky, cute, and black—an ideal tribute to our adorable little fur babies. Not only does this shawl celebrate our beloved Pepsi and Orangina, but it also serves as a heartfelt homage to pet lovers everywhere. Whether you have a spirited cat, a cuddly dog, or any other cherished pet, this pattern is an opportunity for you to encase their essence in your knitting. Join me in creating a beautiful shawl that honors your furry friends while honing your knitting skills!
