Serpentine
The Serpentine Socks are a delightful and playful interpretation of one of nature’s most fascinating (and sometimes frightening!) creatures. Designed to add a unique touch to your sock collection, this top-down sock pattern features an adorable snake playfully sticking out its tongue on the front, while the back showcases a beautifully cabled shadow snake that adds visual interest and texture. To ensure a comfortable fit, the design incorporates 1 by 1 ribbing down the back of the leg, which counteracts the pulling of the cables.
Our Serpentine Socks pattern is available in three sizes to cater to every knitter’s needs: small (64 stitch cast-on), medium (68 stitch cast-on), and large (72 stitch cast-on). With a gauge of 9 stitches per inch and 11 rows per inch in stockinette, these socks are sure to fit snugly and comfortably.
The sample was crafted in size small, measuring a 9-inch foot. For this particular sample, we used Opal for ladies & gentlemen in the captivating colorway 8012 Lebendig, which required approximately 251 meters (or 274 yards) of fingering weight yarn.
To create your own pair of Serpentine Socks, you will need the following materials: • 350 meters (383 yards) of fingering weight yarn. • A set of 2.5 mm (US 1.5) double pointed or circular needles. • 4 beads in size 6/0. • A crochet hook or flosser for beading. • A cable needle to assist with the cabled design. • A tapestry needle for finishing touches.
