This unique geometric lace pattern draws inspiration from an intricate decorative metal grille found in the magnificent Bank of Nova Scotia building, located in the heart of downtown Toronto. The shawl is cleverly worked on the bias, adding to its flow and elegance.
For those who prefer lace weight yarn, the sample used just 80g of Shelridge Yarns Soft Touch Lace in a rich Rust hue, equivalent to approximately 840 yards (768 meters). In this sample, Chart B was skillfully worked 10 times, resulting in a breathtaking final size of 84 inches (213 cm) long by 11.5 inches (29 cm) wide.
If you’re exploring options in fingering weight yarn, the sample used 170g of Raventwist Myrrah in a sophisticated Slate color, which corresponds to around 700 yards (640 meters). Here, Chart B was worked 6 times, creating a lovely finished size of 68 inches (173 cm) long by 15 inches (38 cm) wide.
This stunning lace shawl is perfect for knitters looking to create a piece that combines artistry with function. Whether you choose lace weight or fingering weight, this pattern will add a touch of elegance to any outfit. Dive into the world of Canadian Art Deco with this beautiful shawl and bring a piece of history into your knitting projects!
