Treis
Variegated skeins are a stunning addition to any knitting project, captivating the eye with their vibrant colors and unique patterns. However, they can present challenges during the knitting process. Their beauty lies in their individuality, which often requires alternative skeins to be used in order to prevent pooling or noticeable dye variations. With that in mind, I crafted the Treis shawl; a design specifically tailored to embrace the splendor of two variegated skeins while simplifying the crafting experience (i.e., no alternating necessary). This gorgeous shawl features an asymmetric triangular shape predominantly in garter stitch, allowing for a seamless display of the yarns’ delightful twists and turns. The design culminates in a striking lace section, perfect for showcasing the contrasting semisolid skein.
Yarn: The purple shawl is crafted using one skein each of Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply in Soul Food, Garden Party, and Spiked Punch, capturing a rich tapestry of hues. The elegant gray shawl features two skeins of Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply in the colorway Joan of Arc and one skein in the beautiful Pewter shade.
Gauge: To achieve the correct gauge, work to a measurement of 24 stitches by 52 rows equals 4 inches in Garter Stitch using US size 5 needles.
Size: Once completed, the shawl measures approximately 23 inches at its deepest point and 85 inches along the neckline, making it a versatile accessory that can be wrapped or draped as desired.
Instructions for the lace portion of the Treis shawl are available in both written and charted formats, catering to different knitting preferences and enhancing your crafting experience. Whether you are an experienced knitter or just starting out, this project is ideal for adding a touch of elegance to your wardrobe.
