This charming pattern invites you to step off the well-beaten track and slow down, allowing your curiosity to guide you along its intricate, meandering cable pattern. Experience a rewarding adventure of discovery that unfolds both on and off the needles. Where will the "Wandering" pattern take you in your knitting journey? This pattern utilizes the German Twisted Cast-On technique, adding a touch of flair to your work. If you're unfamiliar with this method, don’t worry—I've included a tutorial for this and other special techniques used in my patterns on my website, ensuring a smooth knitting experience.
Yarn Requirements: To create your "Wandering" hat, you'll need Eden Cottage Yarns, Askham Aran in the Thunder colourway (a luxurious blend of 70% Baby Alpaca and 30% Silk) with a generous yardage of 166 m (181 yds) per 100g skein. Depending on the size you choose, you'll need 103 (155, 208, 259) m / 113 (170, 227, 283) yds of yarn (note: this does not include yarn for a pompom if you choose to add one).
Needles and Notions: For this project, we recommend using 5 mm (US 8) circular needles, preferably in lengths of 40-60 cm / 16-24" (longer sizes work well for magic loop knitting), along with double-pointed needles if you prefer. Additionally, you'll need a cable needle for the cable pattern, stitch markers to keep track of your progress, and a tapestry needle for finishing touches.
