Wild Ride
If you're passionate about knitting with mini-skeins, you're in for a treat! For my first knitting pattern of 2021, I’m excited to present a delightful design that takes you back to basics while embracing a fresh and fun approach. This pattern is a creative spin-off from my popular Elevation Series, featuring similar intricate stitch patterns, but reimagined in a new, wilder shawl shape that will keep your needles clicking happily. Let’s put the challenges of 2020 behind us and welcome a brighter, more vibrant 2021 with this beautiful knitting project!
Yarn Requirements:
For this captivating shawl, you will need:
- Main Color (MC): 375 yards / 345 meters of fingering weight yarn
- 5 Contrasting Colors (CC1-5): 85 yards / 78 meters of each color in fingering weight yarn, perfect for showcasing your creativity and love for colorwork!
You also have the option to simplify your knitting experience by substituting one full skein in place of the five mini skeins, allowing you to create a stunning two-color shawl with just two main shades.
Notions: To complete your project, you will need a tapestry needle and stitch markers. These tools will help you keep your stitches organized and your edges neat as you work through this lovely pattern.
As this is a shawl pattern, remember that gauge is not crucial. However, keep in mind that if your gauge differs from the recommended gauge, you might end up using a different amount of yarn, so it’s always good to have extra yarn on hand! Embrace the joy of knitting and let this pattern inspire your next project—perfect for knitters of all skill levels looking to add a bit of whimsy and flair to their knitting collection.
