However, one situation where I always reach for socks is during my workouts. This inspired me to create a unique sock pattern specifically designed for active wear, allowing me to enjoy the benefits of handknit socks that align perfectly with my lifestyle. Since athletic socks require a snug fit and excellent breathability, I was overjoyed to discover some fantastic yarn options that fit the bill. Hikoo CoBaSi and Universal Yarn Panda Cotton are my top choices because they feature a blend of cotton and elastic. The added stretch in these yarns helps create a fabric that securely hugs your foot, offering both comfort and performance during physical activities.
In designing this pattern, I incorporated groups of short rows in strategic locations and a slipped stitch instep. These elements work together to contour to the natural curves of the foot, providing additional support where it’s needed most. Currently, this pattern is exclusively toe-up, but it accommodates various knitting styles and preferences.
