Wriggle Mitts
Introducing our beautifully designed mittens, crafted specifically for the Shall We Knit? retreat in January 2019. These cozy accessories were created using the special yarn featured in the attendees' goodie bags. In collaboration with talented local designer Lynne Sosnowski, who designed a stunning cowl named Portable Hole, we’re excited to share this unique mitten pattern with the knitting community.
These stylish mittens are knit using two fingering weight yarns held together, resulting in a gorgeous marled effect that sets them apart. The sample was expertly crafted with Shibui Knits Maai, a luxurious chainette yarn, paired with Riverside Studios Kidsilk, a stunning hand-painted silk mohair yarn. The combination not only provides warmth but also showcases beautiful color variations, making each pair truly one-of-a-kind.
If you're looking for an alternative to knitting with two yarns held together, fear not! You can still achieve a lovely result with just one strand. For this option, you will need 160 meters of a single yarn that knits up at a gauge of 7 stitches per 2.5 cm on 3.5 mm needles. Ideal for knitters of varying skill levels, this pattern allows you to explore your creativity while keeping your hands warm during the colder months.
Not only are these mittens a delightful project to work on, but they also make a wonderful handmade gift for friends and family. Embrace the art of knitting with this charming pattern and enjoy the satisfaction of creating stunning accessories that you can wear or gift with pride!
