Introducing our delightful "Pancake's Puddle" socks, inspired by the enchanting first litter of kits from our beloved French Angora rabbit, Pancake. As I embarked on the mission to capture their adorable antics in a photograph, I found myself struggling to snap a clear image of these tiny, wriggly furballs — the result: only fuzzy blurs! This delightful experience sparked my creativity, leading to the design of this unique sock pattern.
This captivating knitting pattern incorporates the fascinating technique of mosaic knitting, allowing you to work with just one color per row. The intricate colorwork pattern is achieved by skillfully slipping certain stitches as charted, while playful cables add an extra layer of whimsy to the slipped stitches, making them appear as if they’re wiggling with life.
Rated as an advanced intermediate knit by our enthusiastic test knitters, this pattern requires a variety of skills, including slip stitch colorwork, cabling slipped stitches, picking up stitches, short-row shaping, as well as both decreases and increases. This project offers a wonderful way to refine your knitting skills while creating a cozy pair of socks.
The "Pancake's Puddle" socks come in various sizes to accommodate different foot measurements: 60 (75, 90) stitches - suitable for Child/Adult XS (M, XL), designed to fit 7 (8.5, 10)" or 17.75 (21.5, 25.5) cm foot circumference, with 1" (2.5 cm) of negative ease for a snug fit.
