25 years ago, I envisioned a career in Egyptology, captivated by the ancient wonders of Egypt. My journey began in 1992 when I traveled to Cairo, where I had the thrilling experience of climbing the majestic pyramids, embarking on what felt like a fleeting 30-minute tour of the renowned Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, creating exquisite papyrus, venturing deep into the heart of a pyramid, and even indulging in chicken fried in camel fat — a rather unique culinary experience that I found quite unpalatable!

Although I never completed my degree, my passion for Egypt remains. I must admit, I share this fascination with actor Brendan Fraser, who brought the adventure of Egypt to life on screen. Recently, while lounging on Lisa Souza's vibrant couch, I was inspired by the stunning colorways that caught my eye — especially the golden yellows and deep lapis blues. To me, these two colors epitomize the beauty of Egyptian aesthetics. If you're looking to explore more of Lisa's beautiful color options, I encourage you to click the link below. She dyes to order and offers fantastic prices for her yarns!

In ancient Egypt, colors carried profound meanings. For instance, blue, known as irtiu and khesdedj, symbolized the sky and water, representing vital concepts such as the heavens and the primeval waters — a significant element from which all life emerged according to Egyptian mythology. The rich symbolism behind these colors enriches our understanding of their cultural significance, making them perfect inspiration for your next knitting project. Embrace the legacy of Egypt by incorporating these vibrant hues into your work, and let the colors speak to you in every stitch!
